Default Any ER-6N owners?

Hi All,

I was just wondering if any of you guys have any experience of the Kawasaki ER-6N? I'm currently considering a change from my 2000 SV 650S and I like the look of the ER-6N. There's also been some very good reviews and I'm thinking of taking a trip over to my local Kawasaki dealer today to have a test ride.

Have any of you guys owned one, or have any experience of them? As much as I really like my SV, there's enough power to satisfy me and it's been uber reliable, but I would like something a little "fresher" looking and a bit more comfortable. I also like how naked bikes look, but don't like the gladius (sorry gladius owners), but the ER-6N does appeal in white.

Anyways, your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Ian

Me mate had an 06 one. Nothing but trouble for him really. Got it with 700 miles on and already the cheesium it was made from was starting to pit and mark. The battery on it melted very quickly and on a ride out the exhaust snapped in two as the engine rocked back and forth in the chassis.

It didn't sound as nice as the sv but from a quick spin it felt quite nice to ride.

I'm now a kawasaki owner after owning a suzuki and find the finish slightly worse. They corrode at the speed of light and my ZX6 already has signs of bolt fluff from the salt on the roads. CLEAN THEM ALL THE TIME!!

I would probably go for a Z750 if you want a kawasaki. They make AWESOME inline fours.

I had thought about the Z750 as well, but all the scaremongering I heard about the handling had kind of put me off. I like the way they look, and from what I hear, the engine is really good, but apparently the rear shock is abysmal. I know I could buy one and spend some £££s on upgrading the suspension, but to be honest I would much rather that a bike had half decent handling from out of the box as opposed to spending too much on upgrades.

Apparently this years model is better made than the previous revision, but from what you say they do sound a bit poorly built. The bike would only be used as a toy (ie not in winter, very wet days etc), so I'm not sure how much of an issue the corrosion would be. I'm also a slight cleaning freak, so that might be quite useful.

I'll maybe try the Z750 as well, and see how that goes. It's insurance group 11 too so maybe wouldn't be too bad on that front either. The joys of living in NI - the capital of insurance rip offs!!

Ah see so no sports bikes for you then!

I think the Z750 will handle as badly or slightly better than the SV in standard trim. I threw a grand at my SV nearly to make it handle properly and my stock ninja makes it look lardy, hard to turn and wobbly. So you do seem to get what you pay for. How about a naked FZ6 they have 100 bhp and will be very entertaining.

Suppose its the old twin or 4 question.

I would go Z750, the handling "issues" is a lot of ********. Can't be any worse than a 10k SV bouncing all over the road! Hard rear shock? Eat more pies, drink more beer. The mags and papers have to write about something I suppose. Its sufficently different to what you have got now. More power and torque. Looks great. (especially with that Arrow megaphone exhaust)

The Er in white looks like a mini superduke, but with a poorer engine than what you have the now and is a bit of a plodder compared to the SV and certainly the Z.

If you are a clean freak then you probably know how to look after a bike so I would not be overly concerened about lack of build quality. (Both look a lot better built than our SV's)

Z750 sounds better saying it to your mates than Er6n.
