I bought my SV650 about 2 weeks ago, and have been riding it for about a week, however I think the gear pedal needs adjusting. When I am in gear 1, and want to change to gear 2, I pull in the clutch and lift the pedal up with my left foot, however a lot of the time I only do a half flick, so the bike slips into neutral. In order to do a full flick, I need to lift my foot right up, and it's just comfortable stretching that far.
So how do I adjust my gear pedal to make it more sensitive? Are there any online guides? I've tried Google but to no avail. Thanks ![]() |

Be more positive/committed with your foot. If ever I end up knocking into neutral accidentally it's because I'm being lazy and not fully selecting gear when shifting, not moving the foot enough. Doesn't ever happen when I'm setting off from traffic lights for example but if pootling it's a bad habit and one I get annoyed at. I end up apologising to the bike for making her rev in protest unnecessarily
![]() I doubt you'll find much info on it, it's more down to rider error I would have thought. And try using the term gear lever, you're on a bike with an engine now ![]() |

You can adjust the position of the gear lever by adjusting the gear shift rod (part 29 on the fiche http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID...DEL_K5_K6_K7)_
Slacken off the locking nuts at either end and then rotate it (one of the ends is a left handed thread so it increases / decreases the effective length) and when you have the gear lever in the position you want it, do the lock nuts back up <-- do not forget to do this!

The picture in the link makes it look really complicated but it's quite obvious how it works if you have a go (was on my curvy anyway) I moved the angle of the lever down as I was having the same problem & ended up with really bad pains in my ankle from constantly having to lift it so high, I find it a million times better now. If you don't like it you can always change it back. |

I had to adjust mine at first as it was too low.
It's lovely once you get it in the right place and is really simple to do. |
