Lo
Simple really, was out with gf riding coming into a left hander went to change gear and no gear lever. Bit of a panic and had to stop half way round. Some quick fiddling and a hair bobble later to reattach said gear lever, i crawled it back to the garage. After speaking to the bloke who'd done my first service the day before he reckoned that whoever replaced the left footpeg didnt deadbolt the gear lever on and therefore it was going to happen. Apart from crapping myself when it happened reckon i should chase this? Sib (gf) reckons not and to let it slide but imho if it had been a tigther bend i could have been in serious trouble. Afterall if you cant use some engine breaking your going to be going into the bend too quickly and from there its time to eat some bush. Anyway thanks for listening to my ramblings and at least i've been taught one thing. I need to know more about the workings of my bike, next to learn an oil change!!!! |

I notice my gear lever comes loose on the splined part that leads to the gearbox, I don;t know why. I check it regualrly now and nip it up when it starts to get a bit loose. It might be SV vibrations, im not sure...

My whole left footpeg arrangement had been loose for a long time since i replaced it, i kept having to make it finger tight because it's such a stupidly large alan key size, just wrenched it as far as it can go now but it's not ideal.
I'd just carry on glad that nothing came of it TBH. |

Similar thing happened to me on a loan bike, on the A40 during the hometime rush-hour. Fun aint it?
Oil change is easy as long as you have a paddock stand and something suitable to catch the oil in.
