Default Smeggons has turned to the dark side.

After 3 years of constantly saying I'm never ever going to get a car I finally caved in yesterday and brought one.
The reason for it was last years winter scared the be Jesus out of me. Going out at 7am and crawling my way to work at 30 mph not knowing if the bit of road 2 foot in front was tarmac or black ice isn't my idea of fun.

So I present to you Milly Metro.

Now don't all laugh at once, I will agree that it's not the best looking motor out there and yes it is a bit of a squeeze for me inside. The body work condition is dam good with no scratches, dents or cracks. The only dodgy bit is a slight bit of rusting on one of the rear wheel arches.

Inside everything is spotless with no marks or tears to any of the seats. It's even got the original Metro radio with it and I'll be able to boogie to that once I figure out how to decode it without the code. It's even got an alarm, immobiliser and remote central locking.

The most amazing thing about it is this...

Compare the dates and the mileage between the 2 certificates. It's done 13 miles in 7 years. The engine runs as quite as a mouse, it's had a new middle box exhaust put in and all the tyres still have plenty of tread on them.

The car cost me a whopping £375, insurence was £681.50 TPFT and tax will be £120 for 12 months. Just got to wait till the start of next month before I can tax it and pick it up.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea no I'm not selling the bike, it was proving too costly to use it as a commuter, shopper and pleasure toy. So hopefully having the car will save me money in the long term.

Happy Days!

Nice one Scott, looking to get a car soon myself. My best quote has been 1100 tpft so far, but on a comparison site. Any tips to get the price down? I've got my dad on quotes which takes off a good few hundred quid.

yup, my nephew is 18 and has a Fiesta - that was £1000 TPFT.

Wish I could drive a car to work, I'd certainly use it when the cats and dogs are falling and it's a brass monkeys January at 5am

It was with 1yrs no claims when that year's policy started! For some strange reason the Rovers are dirt cheap insurance. To insure a 1.1 fiesta it was more than double (£1300).

Again Seggons, Rover POWER!
