Default Coping with living outside and being unused for periods of time

My SV, although being used constantly late summer when I bought it and living inside, has been moved outside to live since October and has been going unused for long periods of time, sometimes up to 3 weeks. That said, I am very impressed with how it copes. It never misses a beat, always starts without any issues and even the clock is always correct.

I tend to make sure I always turn it on and let it run at least every 2 weeks, and to try and ride it on occasions just to get it going.

Got me thinking, what is the longest time period it should be left without use, and when will the battery start to die etc?

Your lucky, mine hates being unused. I didnt use it for only a week and it struggled to fire up

might be something to do with the cold and damp

Im not sure how long it wouold take for the battery to die...if you know you wont use it for a few weeks, then take the battery out and bring it inside and keep it hooked up to an optimate trickle charger (if you cant connect the optimate to the battery while its still in the bike)

Mine is in the garage with a cover, probably for a couple of months,I usually start it every 4/5 days, starts 1st time, keep the choke on for under a minute then let it idle for 10mins.

Too lazy to take it for a run

To illustrate, this is my environment. It lives in a layby and is subject to particlarly cold and damp conditions as I live in a low water table country plain. Its awful wound here.

The second picture shows how it is covered - must say the cover is great.
