Default How did you pay for your bike?

Just been looking at my next bike recently and i was just wondering how people manage to afford them really, as they are not that cheap and its a fair bit of cash to save up?

1st couple of bikes, i paid for in cash.

2nd was the SV, loan im still paying.

3rd. GSXR 750 K6 or 7, prob gonna have to be a loan as they are pricey bast*rds.

1st bike, was given to me by my dad as a loan. Then when I didnt want it anymore I sold it and when I went to give him the cash for it, he refused it.

2nd bike, - the SV, paid for in cash

3rd bike, GSXR, looked at using dealer finance, which was hideous APR and big repayments, so in the end I topped up my mortgage and used that to fund the purchase of the bike.

Choo asked for a special favour, and then i topped it up with cash. I'll always save up and pay with cash...like fizz has seen, finance is just alot of money down the drain, unless you can get a 0% deal

First bike (TS50), cash
Second bike (CD200) cash
Third bike (GSX250) was free
Fourth bike (CD200) cash
Fifth bike (SV650) finance
Sixth onwards cash.

I put down finance as that's been the most expensive one, all the others previous were <£200.

Peds -Bought
SV - Bought
Bandit - Dad put a deposit, I paid the rest on 0%, now paid off.
Benelli - Dad lent me some money, I paid half. I still owe him the other half..

At some point.....

I've been lucky my dad helped me, otherwise i'd have never got to owning it.

Hint: Benelli Tornados, still £6000 otr brand new (well, old bike, not registered yet)

Yamaha YZF-R125, 2008/58
Brand new from a dealer, full amount in cash when I picked it up. Sold it 8 months later for £400 less than I bought it for.

Suzuki SV650S, 2005/06
Used from a dealer with one previous owner, again full amount in cash when I picked it up. Paid a little over the odds as it was the one I wanted... full fairing (inc. lowers), the (darker) blue I was after, Yoshimura exhaust, etc. Still got it 10 months later. Doubt I'll sell it anytime soon!

Next bike, cash again! If I can't afford something then I don't have it. The only thing I ever see myself borrowing money for is a house.

I have always paid cash for my bikes.

Best way, go to see it, let owner know you have cash to pay, walk away if price not agreed, watch them come running for a second sniff of the wodge.
