Hi all,is it worth spending loads on a chain and sprocket kit, if you ride a lot of motorway miles, as i have seen kits from about 70 quid???? the point being that im not hard on the gas all the time just cruising.

Yes buy best you can afford, they do pay off.
Also might be worth considering 530 conversion. Other way to look at it on motorway is even if you're not hard on the power the chain is still moving at high rpm all the time and catching 100mph worth of dust and rubbish.

It depends on whether you maintain the chain well or not.If you keep it well lubed,or use a scotoiler it is worth spending money on a top chain and sprocket set as it will last a long time.If you dont maintain it you might as well buy a cheap one as it will wear out quick whatever is on there.

Wider chain that wears less quickly.

I had a cheap chain it lasted 2,200 miles well looked after but the engine was too torque for the chain (dealer that fixed it say) and it snapped as I pulled away once, the heavy duty is a must from now on for me and I would recommend you do the same, unless your out of cash completely.

Sunshine if that chain snapped in 2200 miles it was either faulty or meant for a 125. No bloody way any 525 chain would snap in that mileage unless faulty.
Slightly heavier.

i think the rivet link was crap but they said it was the way i ride, it ended up me paying no extra for a gold heavy duty chain, it was a 525 so im guessing bad chain as well.
