Well it would appear that my parents gave me a nice lump of cash for xmas.
So im looking at getting a fairly decent alarm for my nice shiny sv. What alarms do people have or recommend ? ive spotted these couple on ebay, clifford gp1000t Meta M357T-V2 CAT 1 i can fit the alarm myself as im a trained mechanic. Also what places can you suggest to get a alarm from? Cheers Ben |

Ive got an accumen cat 1.1 on mine, was £300 ish fitted so if you fit it urself youll prob save £80 ish or something. Seems pretty good to me, very loud with tilt sensors etc and sensors on the seat pod if anyone removes it, dont know how good itll be if/when somone tries to rob the bike but all the reviews seemed good when i got it. aparently the accumen alarm/imobiliser is part of the datatool system aswell and their supposed to be pretty $hit hot alarms/imobilizers.
Dont know if this will help but thought id throw it out there. Danny |

Don't bother, get a disc lock alarm (and/or a very cheap and non-bike affecting one) and a massive f***-off set of chain and ground anchor.
Any passers by will completely ignore an alarm, they make no difference to your insurance and immobilisers cause more problems than they solve. Only benefit comes when you are near your bike like at night, and a cheap alarm or a disc lock alarm fulfils this job well.

I wouldn't bother and spend the money on something shiny instead.

I have a datatool alarm on my SV, and whilst I don't regret getting it and that it hasn't caused me any issues at all. I do agree with YC. The costs don't make it worth while, and people do just ignore it. An alarmed disc lock with a feck off big chain is just as good, if not better, and alot cheaper.

An alarm on a bike is only ever going to be a deterrant. If 'they' they want your bike 'they' are going to take it. If you really want to, go get a flashing led installed because that'll do the same job. An alarm will only ever deter the opportunist thief. You certaintly won't get your money back via the insurance company for having an alarm fitted.

That is very true, having a disc lock and/or big chain provides a visual deterrent and would also make the bike harder to move. But as said, if they want it they will take it.

As others have said, don't bother with an alarm, buy an Almax chain and any other security. No-one takes the blindest bit of notice of alarms and they all, without exception, will give problems at some point.

I agree! Alarms are useless really! You could get a BikeTrac,
![]() Or an Almax Chain.. (BTW I'm selling one...)
