Question Autocom Fault

I have had an Autocom (Active Plus) for ages and it has developed a really annoying fault... if the music volume reaches a certain level then the left speaker stops playing the music and just starts tick, tick, ticking. It sounds like the ticking might be at a bike related frequency until you remove it from the bike and the same thing happens there too. The thing is that this cut out volume is well below the volume required to hear anything through earplugs. Anyone else had anything like this happen? Any suggestions?

You are right! Finally borrowed a different speaker set and it seems to be the wires.
In fact I can make it worse on the original headset by wiggling the wire.

From what I have seen, looks like a design flaw with the autocom wiring which means that it wears through the wire through normal wear and tear (second time I have seen this). In fact the loom I borrowed was a more recent model and it seems as if someone at autocom has also spotted how sh*te the old ones were because the new one is a much improved design!

The odd thing is that if I drop the voltage supply to my Autocom down to only 7V then it doesnt happen at all!! I am gonna have a small box to drop down the voltage to ~7V anyway for my TK3101 supply so maybe I should just attach the autocom to that too?
