Default Ticking noise

Hey guys,

Got on the bike last night to come home from work and all was normal. Riding home however, a reasonably loud ticking noise started at ~4k revs. It doesn't appear to matter what gear I'm in, or what speed I'm doing.

I don't think its the CCT rattle though, i get the understanding that's quieter.

It's come on all of a sudden, and the only work done on the bike is having the calipers taken off and fitted with new pads, nothing else. Oil level is fine.

Any ideas lads and ladies?

Prob is CCT's most rattle/tick, they all seem to rattle to varying degrees. Take mine for example some days its not there at all other days its loud enough to hear over the engine, but i've down 5000miles with it like it and its not blown up yet.

Have a listen to where the noise is coming from mine comes from the front cylinder about half way up, front tend to be louder as its not bathed in as much oil.

Excellent, I'm at my work just now, I'll check that out at tea-break. It's not any louder than normal, but will report back with whatever it does with some revs.

If it is CCT's it will increase with Revs as the chain speeds up and slows down

Okay, had my tea break. Couldn't get it to rattle at all... revved in neutral with no rattle, and took it a blast up and down the carpark and couldn't get any rattle from it... im totally clueless

My guess would be CCT's, wouldn't worry too much, as i said before mine sometimes does not rattle at all. ain't nothing to worry about. Was there any noticable difference in engine performance? If not then i wouldn't worry.

Munky sounds like a rattly CCT, but now loose is your chain as drive chain lash can be noisy

There's certainly no difference to performance, thanks for the advice guys!

AS, bike went through its MOT on Monday, so the chain tension was checked right before that, but its due a lube today, so I'll check it again!

might have been a stone in the tyre.. or new pads bedding in, if there is a very slight warp on one of the discs then it will let the pads rise and fall in the calliper, i had this on my last bike and was bloody annoying.

Does the rattle still happen when stationery?
