Default New arrivals

Here's Dorothy and Clucky, our two new chickens:

Many will remember that Dorothy was also my daughter's cat that was killed on the road outside our house. Sophie named the chickens. We had tears.

They're not that old, about 3 weeks I guess, they think that Sophie is their mum Breed? I think a Suffolk-Warren cross. Does that make sense? We got them from a place in west Shropshire, they're nearly Welsh!!!

Was it the rare breed poultry place at Onibury near Ludlow?

Suffolks are an old breed, Warrens are factory bred egg machines.

Then I dunno exactly Pete... the mother is a Suffolk, no idea about the dad except to say he was a fine looking lad, strutting his stuff

No not from Onibury, from a farm at West Felton. Very much free range, I don't think much has changed since the 1950s
