Default Advice needed on rear spring rate for 16 stone pie meister

Hi Guys,

I want to upgrade my rear shock and spring on my pointy. I'm 16 stone without riding gear.

What spring rate should I be looking at?

Many thanks

John

I'd get a GSXR1000 shock off eBay.

I did and it was perfect. I'm a similar size to you.

A gixxer thou shock is too long is it not??? I guess the back is raised a fair bit now?

Anyways, the spring rates on on them vary between 8.3 and 10 kg/mm which I guessed would be in the ball park for a 16 stoner.

Thanks for your reply

Is it for a curvy or pointy?

I just grabbed a brand new and boxed ZX6RR shock from fleabay.

Perfect length and I can change the spring if needed. The stock spring is 10.3 kg/mm so it should be in the ball park (Hopefully)

I'm the same weight as you. I just swapped my shock for Gixxer 1000 K5 unit my friend found in his garage.

The difference is unbelievable. I was going to look at oil and spring rates soon myself so when i find out what's already on it i'll let you know
