Default I'm back - with new bikes in mind.

So I've been gone for almost a year! I sold my SV650 which was restricted since I was a student at the time and little funds to keep it running.

But I now have the restriction lifted after two years - and have a job! So have some bikes in mind.

Ideally I would like a 4-cylinder in-line for that smoother feel (not that I have anything against the V-Twin) but there are some V-Twins in my options. And those are (in preference from most to least):
  1. Suzuki GSF650 Bandit (naked)
  2. Suzuki GSX650F (which I believe is the faired version of the bandit?)
  3. Suzuki GSR600 - the unfaired version of the GSXR?
  4. Suzuki SV650 (pointy) - had to include that one!
  5. Suzuki Gladius (which is the new SV650 naked, right?)
  6. Kawasaki ER6 (650cc) - which I'm not too sure on Kawasakis.

So they're my choices. Top-speed I'm not too concerned about since I won't be reaching that soon (all over 120MPH which is more than enough). But I'm worried about acceleration.

First from 0 onwards (will it beat the cars ). And what's the roll-on acceleration like from 50/60 onwards? One thing about the restricted SV650 was specifically that - getting around a car on an A-road or motorway was painful. Will the above (particularly the bandit since that's what I'm edging towards) have enough oomph to get around them from 50/60MPH?

Hopefully you'll see more of me now I'm back on a bike

From that list I'd get the ER6, they're excellent. Also see the Versys.

Thanks guys. What would both these be like for roll-on acceleration? Are they still pretty nippy > 60?

I highly rate the ER6 engine. Much preferred it to the Versys I had at the time when I was taking the ER6 out for a test ride. I very much rate it better than the SV650 too, doesn't run out of puff quite so quickly. I haven't ridden the F version though so couldn't say much about that one.

Any of the above bikes will have what will feel like blistering acceleration up to 100mph. My curvy easily eats cars doing 70mph+

I think you don't know what you had subdued under the restrictor. Don't choose on power, they are all powerful enough for a first unrestricted bike.

Glad you are in a position to get another bike, have fun!

Well remember its an instant ban when you roll.on to 100mph.
GSR has my vote.
