Helmet repaint?

i'm thinking of getting a helmet custom painted, was wondering if this is legal? or any restictions?

Depends who does it I have found, those who are "legal" are expensive

Why would there be any legal restrictions whatsoever? Surely as long as you don't change the structure of the helmet, it's got nothing to do with the law?

Tried repainting an old one of mine recently with spray paints from Halfords - properly cocked it up! Couldn't get the paint to spread evenly around the sides as it kept dripping and bubbling - would def get a professional to do it if you want a proper job doing.

Yeah I'll get it done by a pro,thought there might be a problem with removing the safety spec stickers on the rear.

I thought they were only an issue if you want to do trackdays, however you might be right - have a look at the info at the end of this article about cycle helmets being passed off as motorbike helmets -

Still think it's highly unlikely you'd ever get plod picking up on the absence of a sticker providing it's a full-face helmet which is clearly a proper bike helmet.

It is more to do with the fact that if someone uses the wrong paints it can damage the helmet shell or inside of the helmet.

If you then had an accident and the helmet was found to be substandard and a contributing factor to your injuries I doubt any insurance company would pay out
