Default Curvy tank filler well drain repaired.

Hello,
I recently bought a 99 SV that had been stood for a few years. It had a problem with water in the fuel, which put down to condensation. Wrong. It turned out to be a leaking vent pipe in the tank. I looked on the forum re this and it seemed to be quite a common issue with the SV, and not many people seemed to have any joy in a permanent fix for it. I didn't see much point in buying a used tank, and I certainly wasn't going to give Mr Suzuki £630 for a new one. After a bit of searching on the net I found a company that reconditions fuel tanks. They have welded in a completely new pipe. The paintwork was slightly damaged close to the filler cap due to the heat, but I expect this was unavoidable. I have touched in this minor damage and have re fitted the tank. The cost of the new pipe was £75. The company is Hartlepool Radiator Company 01429 236300.
Regards
Steve

Default Re: Fuel Tank vent pipe.

Useful information. Yes the pipe corroding is a common fault.
