Hi all,
I've got a problem with my k3, it wont change between 2 and 3. Ive checked the clutch position worm thingy, changed the chain as that was knackered and now has the right tension, also new clutch plates. I also checked the bucket for notching but that seemed ok. Its done just over 50k and im not sure what else to now check. The gear change lever just goes solid and wont move when trying to change up, between 1 and 2 is find. It some times changes up to 3rd then up through the rest fine but it then doesn't go back down to 2nd ![]() Is there anything else i can check or an idea what could be causing it? |

Might be a silly question but have you had the bike long? If it's new to you the person who previously owned it may have switched the gear ratio to 1 up 5 down. Some do this for comfort, just try it the other way, worth a shot

Try going up the gears with the engine off and see if it's the same. You might need to rock it a wee bit between gears.
Are all the other gear changes OK? Any previous false neutrals while riding or gears grinding? |

I'm going out on a limb:
You've not stripped and greased the linkage in a wile and it's sticking. The gear lever moves down into 1st, Up into neutral and up into 2nd, but then it isn't returning cleanly to position, so isn't moving the shift star to the next notch. To test put some oil / WD40 or similar around the gear lever where it's at the footpeg and wiggle it about a bit. If it gets easier then you've found the issue and can strip and clean it. If all else fails bring it round to mine and we'll sort it, but you should only need a 10mm spanner and a 6mm hex ![]() Jambo
