I do about 7000 non-commuting miles a year. My bike has done 20,000 miles. If I kept the bike for another year so it would have done about 27,000 miles, do you think it would be harder to sell on? Or would the price drop dramatically? I've noticed a lot of SV's on eBay that have around the 20,000 mile mark on them. Is there any reason for this?
I'm planning on buying a new bike anyway, I'm just thinking whether I should sell the bike and get a new one for this summer, or next summer. |

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about it. Overall condition and service history is more important than mileage. How old is your bike?

I wouldn't say that mileage is particularly high. When you think about it it's only an average of less than 3k a year. Even if you add another few thousand to it it over the next year, it will hardly be galactic. As long as the bike is in good condition overall I doubt you'd struggle to sell when the time comes, as long as you price it realistically of course

![]() When I looked to trade in a curvy sv a couple of years back, the shop owner did say the price tumbled a fair bit once the bike had 30K plus according to his guide book. Could have been a load of rubbish, but why not phone a couple of bike shops and ask their opinion? |

I sold my curvy in Feb really easy, it had 20046 miles but was in good condition, dealer ripped my arm off for it in part ex.

I prefer a vehicle with a few more miles than on it. In my mind/opinion if something has been driven/ridden more the chances are it has been looked after better, used more often and isn't going to be historically unreliable. Where as something with very low miles, again in my mind/opinion, is the opposite of all of that.
I know it depends on the owner, budget to run, vehicle in question and who the prospective buyer is. Unless the mileage is way out, it won't affect the value *that* much over/under the price. |

Dealer price wise it work out to £150 for each 1000 miles away from the average miles, eg. my curvy was 3k under average so that £450 on top of the book value!
