The LHS screw that holds the grab rail in place has eaten the threads of the thingy inside(please forgive my lack of technical terminology) and as a result, the screw keeps turning and the grab rail is loose. There was a lot of silver dust falling out of it.
Where can I get a replacement for them screw things? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Its the silver bits inside... |

The thread is in the subframe. Are you sure the bolt isn't knackered? If the bolt is OK but turns and won't tighten you'll need the subframe thread repaired, at a bike shop or similar ask if they can use a thread insert - often referred to as a Helicoil. There are other similar processes it doesn't need to be that one specifically. If you ask on the phone, tell them you need a thread repair for an M8.

It's not a rivnut, it's a cylindrical pillar about 15mm diameter with a thread down the middle of it.

I have the same problem. Dont do a costly repair on the nut on the subframe, get a longer bolt and attach your own nut inside for it to grip onto. Works for me

@ stuR & Dicky Ticker, you guys are simply super! That's the cheapest and easiest DIY solution ever! Where do you get one of those from? A link or a store perhaps?
@ Sid Squid & NTECUK : Cheers for the input guys, I've had a look on the site and I can't seem to find anything that matches what I need! Will stuR and Dicky's method be cheaper? |

the nut and bolt is cheaper.
