Default Removing Datatool - Pointy

I've had my pointy for more than three years. Every now and again I've had trouble starting it. I thought it was just me being stoopid and flooding it or something. Well she was in the local bike garage having her valve clearances checked when the guy phones me up and asks if I've ever had immobilizer problems. Got her back last Saturday and have been running her for a week with no probs until yesterday. The immobilizer has disabled the fuel pump as it should, but won't turn off. The upshot is she's going to Streetbike to get the alarm ripped out!

Default datatool coming off!

Probably less work to fix what's wrong - just about guarantee it's wiring.

I don't think so, fuse pump and relay all ok, and continuity between all and start switch. Start switch turns bike on and cranks engine. But there is no 12v to fuse, relay is not switching, so there is no pump. Now I agree, this could still be wiring, but I can't tell if it is wiring or an immobilizer fault, because the symptoms would be very very similar. The fact I have continuity as far as I can tell, leads me to an immobilizer fault.I had a problem with my starter switch a while ago that turned out to be just dirty contacts, but fault finding with the alarm butting in all the time was a total pain in the arris! So its coming out.

P.S. When i phoned the datatool office, they said it sounded like an immobilizer problem, but for understandable reasons they needed a datatool dealer to fault find for me, even after i could prove it was my bike. Understandable but still a bigger pain.

My curvy Datatool alarm was easy to remove, disconnected it from battery and took out the small battery in the alarm and reconnected all the wires after I took out the immobilising wires (fuel pump, starter motor etc) took me half an hour

This was my approach with my pointy. The only problem was like Scottie above I had no power to the fuel pump relay. I fixed it via the trial and error approach eventually. I could not see what was missing as all cut wires were rejoined. Other wires were simple joins.

Even when sold the bike wasn't quite right. The kill switch had to be on position when turning on the ignition otherwise I got a flashing FI. Not a major problem but irritating. I won't touch bikes with alarms now.

Sid squid - looks like I was wrong. Sorry mate. Streetbike guys have taken the alarm off but the fuel pump still doesn't prime. They are still looking. I'm ok with the alarm off but I'm ****ed off that I could have missed something!
