Hi my bike has been stored all winter whilst I moved house and other thing. Finally got out on it last month and im having issues with the clutch dragging whilst at a standstill and difficulty changing gear when on the move. Changed clutch cable and worm drive and tried setting it up as per sid squids instructions but still no good. What do I change next. Clutch basket or something else. Would fresh oil help at all.

Try stripping the clutch plates out and making sure they aren't stick together, this can happen when stored fpr sometime ,only requires a good clean normally

steel plates with a bit of wet & dry, friction plates a softer wire brush.

i might be wrong but if a friction plate was stuck to a drive plate then you would not be able to use the clutch. all the plates are stacked to the same baskets so requires all the inner and outer plates to disengage from each other.
if the plates are contaminated then sitting on the bike with it in gear and slipping the clutch for a wee while will clean the plates. slip the clutch for about 4-5 secs then pull clutch in and do the same till it feels more free. any longer than 1 min is to much. as far as i know (which is not a lot) a notched outer basket would make the clutch drag but if the bike was working fine before the storage then i doubt that is the problem i'm putting my money on the external clutch workings not being adjusted properly. |

I'll give it a go. Everything has been adjusted multiple times following haynes manual and sid squids instructions doesn't matter how I set it up I still get the drag. I've adjusted it before like this a few years ago. Plus it was fine before been stored and it was dragging before the cable and wormdrive replacemen5

Tried Bibio's suggestion of slipping the clutch a bit and it seems to have cleaned up nicely and no longer drags. (I knew I had it all set up right)
