Hi.
I have a question about my front forks for my race minitwin if anybody can give me some advice. I weigh just under 10 stone (62/63 KG) kitted up. I am using 8.5 K-tech springs. What weight fork oil would you recommend would best suit me? Many thanks, Tom |

hard question. damper rod forks are governed by the orifice size in the dampers. to gain rebound you need to increase viscosity but go too much and you end up with very hard forks under compression on bumps. i would say start with 10wt and then get a bottle of 20wt. if you find the forks a bit mushy with just 10wt take out and add 100ml of 20wt till you get a balance that suits you. better to start soft than hard.
your looking to control the rebound more than anything. at the moment the forks will 'pop and nod' when you release the brakes which upsets the suspension more than what diving will under braking. you can alter the orifice size on your dampers to account for heavier oil needed for rebound but it's not advisable. if you want to go that route then the best way is to fit emulators. emulators can be very good if set up properly. |

Thanks for the replies
![]() A while ago I sent my forks off to a suspension specialist to get them set up for racing and when they came back found that they was way to hard and as a result I was using very little travel on the fork and also the front tyre life has halved to what I was getting out of it before hand. The oil that is in my forks at the minute is 20wt which I think is far to heavy for me. I think I will go ahead a try the Silkolene 12.5 Many thanks |
