Default Buying advice

Hi all,

New to the forum as I have been after a new bike for a while and decided on an sv650 due to the great reviews. Just after some advice regarding a bike on fleabay, it's an 08 sv650 12k miles with service history upto 8k and then the new owner has done the rest, it's had the following work done to it;
Scorpion stubby exhaust
Zzr rear shock
K-tech progressive springs and heavy duty oil
Airbox mod with k an n filter

I'm no mechanic but from what I've read the suspension upgrades are a good idea - my main worry is that the bike hasn't really had any interest making me think I'm missing something? Does it seem like a rough bike?

Just for context I'm fairly new to riding and haven't ridden for a year or so, I'm wanting something to get me around but it will be stored outside under a cover and used throughout winter so I don't want to spend a fortune. For my budget I seem to be able to get decent looked after curvy or a low end pointy that doesn't have service history etc

Might be the price - how much is it up for?

I think it was originally up for around £2300, it's now up at £1800 with no bids and no reserve

Price doesn't seem too horrible to me, but obviously it needs to be seen (and heard) in the flesh really. I'd guess a dealer would want somewhere around a grand more than the £1800 for a bike that's got a reasonably low mileage for the age.

I'd agree that the suspension mods are probably the most useful thing to pick up on a bike to save you doing them, I'd then look at Braided hoses, hugger, front mudguard extender, folding levers and crash mushrooms in slower time.

If it's not quite right when you view it, walk away, plenty of SVs around to choose from, and as a returning newer biker I really think you can't choose a better machine

thanks for the info, I thought it seemed a bit cheap - from what I have seen in general I was thinking around 2k for a 05+ and around 1k-1200 for a 1st gen. I think a nice 1st gen would probably do what I want to be honest but keep getting tempted at what the extra £800 could get me

Looks not too bad at all, not a minter but not a dog either. Just a used, low mileage SV. You could use that the way it is for some time before you needed to do anything to it if it runs as good as it looks. MOT history backs up the mileage but it looks as if it was off the road for a couple of years, might be worth asking if the present owner knows anything about that?
There's always something needing done to a second hand bike but this one would certainly be one I'd consider and he says he's open to sensible offers, must be worth a punt?
