I was in my local halfords the other day and I noticed that as well as rattle cans they also do a paint mixing service... I'll be respraying shortly and I was planning on using 2-pack, but this would be much, much simpler, as well as easier to get my hands on (can't find a local supplier who'll sell 2-pack to the public) Has anyone used their paint, and how did it work out?

are u serious????????????? im a spray painter[cars] so should know this one.2 pack paint reqs a hardener to dry and the fumes are VERY toxic,i.e dont breath them in!!!!!!!! this type of paint will give a btr fin than most others but u have 2 know what ur doing .i dont think any aerosols will give u that finish ur looking for. if ure doing the job urselve make sure that u find out about what u need before u start otherwise things can go wrong.im not trying 2 put u off but ive seen many diy disasters.if u can afford 2 just pay someone .its easy for me to say but trust me

Whoops, could have been clearer... I've got access to compressors and a pressurised spray mask with air line, so I'm not going to poison myself
![]() I'm not talking about using rattle cans, like I said they now do a full mixing service for spray gun use. I don't know what sort of paint it actually is, though it's definately not 2-pack... I'm told that the actual contents of the rattle cans are pretty good quality paint, just limited by the delivery method (someone in a previous thread mentioned buying the cans, draining them then using the results in a gun)

i work for halfords, and who ever serves you should be able to mix up what ever style of paint you want, wather its going to be a perlesant style, or what ever, and we do cans which can be used in compressers. would cost quit a bit though.

Yeah, it's not expecially cheap, that's true. A little cheaper than 2-pac and all the hardeners, etc would probably be (plus, I can buy it bit by bit and it doesn't matter, whereas with the 2-pack I'll be dealing with mail order and racking up the costs if I underestimate)
I'm intrigued by the special finishes but the guys in my local shop didn't know much about it. The flashback green that's on the store displays just now is something else...
