Default Better to Maim than to speed!!

After a bit of phoning around, being pushed from pillar-to-post, I have just found out what penalty the charming young man that knocked me off my motorcycle received in court last month.

The accident, which left me unconscious not breathing, with bad breaks to 6 bones, necessitated surgery to fit a metal plate in my right wrist (I'm right handed), and has left me still with alot of pain, unable to fully do my job, hapened last November.

He was tried for 'Careless or Inconsiderate Driving' and received 6 penalty points on his licence, a £200 fine and £35 court costs.

So peeps... Remember it's better for you to nearly kill someone due to your ****-poor stadard of driving than it is to do over 100mph on a motorway or get caught by a speed camera just over the speed limit 3 or 4 times!

I know the guy's gonna have more difficulty getting insurance for a while but his driving standards are very unlikely to improve that much!

Despite me agreeing to some degree with what Jordan was saying, this just doesn't feel like justice.

Seconded. Kick up a stink, it's a bit too late for election time, but rectifying the situation might earn whoever gets into power some easy brownie points at the start of their term.

Tim, it's just a matter of politics, don't take it too badly. Life ain't fair, that's simply the way it is. And if you're going to make the effort to write to your MP, then good for you .

Hmm...

Wasn't really bothered about going any further with it but the more I think about it, the more I just might do something!
To rub salt into the wound, I still haven't had all the money owed to me from his insurance company for my wrecked bike & my costs (about £2,000 left!) and even when that has been settled, I will still be about £1,000 out of pocket!

Good, innit!!!

Then what you ought to do is sue him directly for damages.
