Default Bike stalling

Since it's first service the bike stalls quite easily when starting her up and has sometimes stalled as i come to a stop. Also noticed white smoke coming out of the can as i start first thing in morning.

Any ideas? I will take it back to dealer but would like to hear some opinions first so i can go prepared with some knowledge

It is an '05 model by the way

Cheers

Does the white smoke come out of the can go away once its cold, if so its just water vapour I would think and nothing to worry about.

As for the stalling thing, take it back to the dealer and get it looked at, bet they've fiddled with the clutch bite point or the idle speed when the serviced it

Hi fizz

The white smoke does go away after a bit but a sort of burning smell is evident a lot the time. Must be the idle setting and it must be running a lil rich is my guess

I doubt it is running rich. It wouldn't stall so easily when cold then would it?

If I remember correctly the idle speed is something they look at during the first service so I expect they bodged it up.

The white smoke is as everyone else has said just plain old condense.

My bike still has a funny burning smell to it, like the smell you get under the bonnet of a car when its new. I assume that its certain oils, greases and coatings on various parts that burn off.

As for the smell have you been riding in the rain recently ? mine always smells funny when it has got wet, must be the dirt and road muck burning off

Also if you bike is brand spanky new it might smell funny whilst its running ins still

Dont think its anything to worry about, if you are worried take it back to your dealer and see what they say

It has done 1200 miles and it had its first service week and half ago and yes the bike is 7 weeks old so is pretty new.

Was riding in the wet last Sat and It was Tues i used it again and that was when i noticed the smoke....will check again as i dont think i noticed it yesterday.

Am pretty sure it is the idle they got wrong so i will call em and see when they can adjust it....should be a while u wait job!

Cheers for the help

It should just be an adjustment of the Idle as suggested. When I had my first and 4k services they buggered up the idle and it kept stalling which was dangerous as it always seemed to do it on a roundabout. Since I adjusted it myself (I like it slightly high at 1500) I never had a problem since and the bike's never been back to a dealer either .

So basically do it yourself, it's just a twist of a knob on a curvy and I would think the same for a pointy.

I better take a look at the hand book for the bike as i have no idea as to where the idle adjustment is.....i am guessing under the fuel tank?

On the curvy it's easily accessible on the leftside of the bike, below the tank and just tucked away inside the frame (easily reached even when on the bike). I would think it's in the same place for a pointy.

Mine used to stall a lot when I first got it. I changed the idle to 1400-1500 and now it only stalls when I try to pull away in 5th
