Erm....depends on a lot of things really! You, the bike, how you ride, where your riding, the speed you want to ride at etc etc
I have had my SV for a month and its my first big bike and I would say I am lot more comfortable on it now and a lot more confident but I am no way used to it. I am still getting used to its "SV'ness". I.e engine braking, normal braking, flickability. But I tell you one thing....My god I'm having fun "getting used to it!" |

Sorry to coin an old phrase but how long is a piece of. . .
Down to you really I would say a month of good riding. That said you would continue to learn for the next 5-10 years. I've had a car for 12year and there are still time I say **** I’m not gonna do that again. A track day works wonders (sadly only done it in a car) |

I know alot of my first week i was thinking **** what have i done??
I jumped onto the sv after riding a zip125 for 2 1/2 years and it is a big jump but you'll get there. as for confidence- it depends what you mean. round slow corners i wobble alot and have to go really slow. getting used to using the clutch when cornering is something i never had to do so it will take a while. Enjoy getting used to the bike, i am! don't keep trying to look round corners/ into the future. just enjoy getting there! I don't think there will be a time when i stop learning and feel i could have done stuff better. that said, if you really are not feeling confident at all, why not try a couple of lessons with your old instructor? I'm gonna join iam, but am gonna wait until i feel confident riding in general |

oh ok
![]() then i'm sure you'll be fine pretty quick, just the extra speed/ weight to contend with just take it easy anyway, oh and imho get some r+g's - well worth it. |
