Hi all
My bike has restrictions on the carb, I think on the intake is what the guy that sold it me said. I'm not too good with mechanics on my own initiative but if anyone could give me instructions on where they are, would be appreciated! EDIT: it's a 2000 curvy model with the carbs, and apparently there's only the one type of restrictor irt could have ![]() |

My understanding is there are two forms of restrictor. The el cheapo washers in the air intake or the official Suzuki restriction which is a change of throttle slide to ones with a hole drilled in them.
Although you do not say it, I would guess your inquiry is aimed at establishing how to derestrict your bike. Therefore if it is the former, simply remove the washers, however for the latter you need the original slides. Obviously you will be aware that to ride a derestrict bike whilst still holding a restricted license is a criminal offence removing the restriction achieves little real world advantage in the case of the SV.

Thanks for the help. I'm not looking at derestricting it for quite a while, as like you said it's fast enough anyway; I'm just asking for reference. I want to get used to the bike inside-out before I make it full power, as friends who have gone straight to a full power bike often spend more time on their **** than the bike lol.

I would not say that the restrictor rings are cheaper than the suzuki bits.
FI charge about £100 for the rings (I think) the sliders from suzuki are £50. Diffrence is the cost for installing because the sliders require more work than the rings.

Take the carb tops off, gently take off the diaphragm and take the tops off the needles off with long nose pliers (DON'T LOSE THAT STUPIDLY SMALL SPRING), then re assmeble as you took it off on the proper throttle slides, then put it all back together. The front pot can be a ball ache, and the screws have a habit of seizing in.
