Default More clicking noises

A while back I mentioned I had a little pop noise sometimes from my engine. Now I have clicking noises lol. A mechanic a while ago said it was just valves and nothing to worry about, which seems to be possible as the rate of clicking increases when I twist the throttle, but it DEFINITELY didn't used to do it, and now its just clicks away all the time, not just on or off. What is it and should I get it seen to?

(just to explain more, aside from the brrrrr of the cylinders firing, there is a fast clickety click as well, coming from the engine itself, not from a rattle or pipes as far as I can see. )

It's *likely* to be the cam chain rattling. This is, I understand, a result of the cam chain tensioner sticking. I think one of the possible methods for fixing this is to put the bike in gear and roll it backwards, although I cant confirm this.

Either that or the engine is about to explode.

For a slightly more involved way of twiddling the cam chain tensionsers, I wrote a fairly comprehensive thingy a while back. The rear one is pretty easy, the front one a pain in the ar*e. Buy some spare sealing washers before you start though. Think there is a bit in the FAQs as well on removing them.

It may have stopped. Or I have gotten used to it. I dunno, I hate loving my bike so much and worrying at every tiny click it makes
