Default The love that dare not speak its name...

I think it started when I arrived late at a meeting and the bloke I sat next to, being an observant chap, noticed I was a biker. This was not entirely surprising as I spent some time taking the outer layers of gear off and putting my lid somewhere where people might not fall over it... At the end of the meeting we got talking and it turned out he'd just bought a V Rod and was being scorned by his biking mates who who were all into sports bikes and couldn't understand what had possessed him.

Well, since then I have noticed I have developed a strange attraction for... cruisers... and wonder if there's anything I can do about it before it's too late...

I thought there was still hope cos I am still not too keen on Harleys but I know how soft drugs can lead to hard ones etc. At the moment I'm fixated on Victory bikes but fortunately I don't have the money to buy one so perhaps the feeling will pass. I thought I had it under control until today when walking back from a meeting I saw a bike and thought that looks nice and... yes, it was a Harley.

Unfortunately the bike mags don't seem to have problem pages so this forum's my only hope...

What's the cure?

Look at the price tag. :P

Consider all that chrome, and how much more time youre going to spend polishing it rather than riding it.

Follow one filtering at low speed and then tell me you'd be comfortable wobbling about that much between cars.

HTH.

Have you actually tried riding one?Feet forward hands up curvature of the spine and the cornering ability of a supertanker.Similar brakes.Apart from that they are fantastic.

They were my thoughts on Harleys',until I rode my Dads' V-Rod!

Nothing like the Sportster he's just bought!

Fast,does corner(Just),does stop,pretty!?,.......I like the V-Rod,They are good fun,but in a completely different way!

Im not going to rush out and buy one though. Not yet anyway!(When I'm in my 50's maybe,if I'm still here!)

Don't like my feet/legs getting airborne over 100mph! Thats what happens on a V-Rod!

Harleys rebuilt just right can be absolutely stunning. Shame none are that nice off the peg. And the new Victories... There's one of them, I forget which, which is absolutely, drop dead gorgeous.

Is it worth mentioning at this point that I'd like to build a cruiser with an SV engine in it?

Now if you took a Triumph Rocket Three and removed all the overdone chrome and excess baggage, then put on a set of straight bars and proper footrests------
maybe.

It'd still look like a 2-wheeled tractor

Not keen on that Triumph,Strange looking thing.

Thing is with the V-Rod,the lump is built by Porsche,so completely different from the others,Gearbox is reasonable too!
