Default New bike: '07 GSXR750 vs '06 ZX-10R

What is everyones opinions on these two bikes? I'm a 23 yr old who's been riding a curvey for two years / 10k miles and now looking for a step up.

I've recently test rode both bikes and I'm having a hard time deciding between them. Both handle and brake considerably better than the sv. I like the huge pull from the engine on the zx-10 and it sounds like a flipping harrier jet taking off when the throttle is opened. The 750 on paper has about 90-95% of the straight line performance of the 10 below 150mph and I get the impression (as I rode both on mainly dual carriageways) it'll be more manageable in the twisties. Both worked well as road bikes, the 10 was a bit intimidating at first but I thought both were controllable in a city centre road setting.

I've been offered just over £5k for a new black 06 zx-10 with my sv part ex or alternately I could get a k7 gsxr in the spring for about the RRP minus the sv in part ex or private sale.

Insurance is not a problem as I've been quoted £500 TPFT for the zx and slightly less for the gsxr. For some reason out of all 600-1000cc IL4s I can only get reasonable quotes on the above two bikes and the R6. This means I can't consider other most other IL4 bikes as I'll be paying £2000+ for 1000ccs and £500-1000 for 600ccs TPFT.

GSXR750 every time.

More usable, more versatile and will hold value better.

Gixxer, no brainer for me (OK I might be a tad biased but I don't have the 750).

Reasons, It's a far more usable bike in virtually every way, the same sweet chassis as the 600 (which I might add should also be considered IMHO) and its the quadrupeds genitals as a really quick and for a usable all rounder as well. It's also a current design. Did I mention the 600.

The ZX10 is a bigger step, I know after 10 K on my SV (still missing her, the red one, *sniff*) I'm still getting used to my bike after 1100 miles (running in and plenty of wet riding) , very easy to get into trouble. If they only made a GSVR1000.... oooh now that really would be sweet. A V2 in a Gixxer chasis with full blown gixxer spenders n swingarm...

I wouldn't get either, just now, but I'd have the 750 out of the two.

I considered both bikes on my final list - and went with the Tuono Tough decision though you are right - I would consider what it was used for and base the decision on this. The only thing putting me off the 750 is the fact that everyone has one - but I think it would win it at the end of the day for being the more usable as a practical everyday bike because you can sit up in it and ride it high.

Depends which one you like best. Personally I dont like the rear end of the 10R. Maybe a test ride again for a bit longer nearer the time you are going to buy and take in some different roads and see which one you click with.

I think you'll find the 750 a bit more usable and a little less mad than the 10R though.
