We installed a 2006 GSXR shocky into a 2006 SV650S yesterday but have a problem to solve. The actual installation went really easily after we cut the corner area out of the battery box.
However, the gas remote reservoir protrudes into the battery box by about 15mm (both back and up) making it impossible to seat the battery back into the box. After several and a half cold ales we could only come up with two ideas - maybe a smaller battery or perhaps move the whole undertray (complete with battery box) backwards enough for the box to clear the remote??????? Any suggestions welcomed. |

I did this with a zx-10 shock into a curvy, but I guess the idea's the same
I made an L-shaped block out of 5-6 L-shaped layers of hardboard taped together to go round the protruding reservoir, with another rectangular layer on top to make a raised floor to the battery box which gave me ~15mm of extra clearance, & sat the battery on top of that I don't jhave a picture of it in action, but here's a picture of how much the reservoir intrudes into the battery box: http://eeyore.mu-dog.net/sv650/sv650_shock/foo_005.jpg |

Probably a few differences with pointy and curvy frames too! Also the 2006 GSXR 1000 shock has the remote angled up at 45 degrees making the clearance issues even worse than with the one you used. I tried seating the battery in the box much like you did but there are problems with it being too high the clear the seat. |

I had fitted a K5 GSXR shock to my K3. The K3's rear subframe is different to the K4+ so you don't have to cut into battery box so much, but they are close enough. The battery sat in this plastic tray thing that when flipped upside down, covered the protruding reservoir. All I had to do was cut the corner off of this as well and I had the extra clearance for the battery to sit on. Also, underneath the seat there was a small block of foam to cushion against the top of the battery - I rotated this around so that the shorter side was facing down - It was about 15mm shorter which took care of the extra 15mm I was grabbing in the battery box.

Problem sorted. Found a battery that's 1" shorter. New shock is a vast improvement.
