Default Stupid

Hi there just thought I would throw this one in, at the start of December I was filtering through traffic when a driver changed lane without looking I hit the side of his car and dropped the bike on the right hand side. He admitted that it was his fault and the insurance company are now working it out.
Damage To My SV650S 2003
Head light
RH Mirror
RH Ind
R+G Crash bung ( Yes they do work at 30 MPH )
Flaring
Rear Brake lever
Rear can.
The total cost for repair will £2300.00
They have given me a Honda Hornet 600 as a loan bike at the cost of £122.00 a day I have had the hornet for 7 days so far and have just been told that my bike should be back with me by the 26th of Jan. The loan bike will cost £3900.
I can't belive that some one has not pointed out that at a total cost of £6200 I could have bought a brand new SV650S and still saved them money.
I went with Help hire and must admit if you are hit and it's not your fault they are the guys to go with..
But It does make you think that next time your insurance goes up again who is making the money.
I would just like to add that the Hornet is **** this one is 7 months old and has rust pitting on the bars and forks.

I'm gobsmacked! 2003 bike and £2300 of repairs! Can't they do the sums? Or am I missing something here?

Hi there I'm glad that I'm not the only one who finds it hard that they didn't write it off. The company repairing the bike told me that if I had the Suzuki can they would have written it off but as I was happy with the offer of a Yoshimura can they could repair the bike. When you think you can get a K5 with 400 miles on it from Fowlers in Bristol for £3499.00 I would have been happy to have taken half the money it is going to cost and bought one.
Like I said Stupid.

when i had my accident everyone comes out of the woodwork to help you! they all want an chunk of your insurance payout, i didn't have the hire bike to keep costs low but hang on one minute IT WASN'T MY FAULT and up to now NO PAY OUT? NO LIABILITY? and Ive got a bike in pieces with a trailer full of bent bits and bill of £400 now which Ive had to pay for spare bits? SOMETHING IS SURELY NOT RIGHT HERE?

oh back to the thread "yea they should have just written it off"

So why haven't you had the payout yet? Are the insurers taking the **** or what? How long ago was your accident? Who are your insurers?(just so I can steer clear of the f*krs when it is renewal time)

TPFT will leave you to fight it out with the other party's insurance. Thats what Rampdale have told me they would do if I ever am unfortunate enough to be in that position.
