New 'THINK' advert about using mobiles while driving

Has anyone else seen this?

Maybe it's just me, but the message that you don't have to be driving the car to cause an accident, as the moron talking to you may crash, just smacks of making excuses for the driver. If you're driving, you don't use your mobile......full stop.

Yeah- but at least they're making more points about dangerous driving now than just speed or booze.

Hopefully next, it'll be about using the indicators that come free with every car (even BMW's), using the right lane and maybe showing a little respect when driving. Perhaps even attending the kids in the back seats!

Who knows, eh?

I have just driven back a 10 minute journey at 2.30 am ... from my unit to home..

and three drivers have passed me on their phones.. !... fools.. .. . .



Liisssaaa I think that advert is good and does show another side.. i now dont ring Kim if I know she's driving to work whereas I used to quite often.

i think its pretty good. better than the 'take longer to look for bikes' campaign which must assume people who don't look at junctions are consistently awake at 3am.

I think perhaps that they should suggest that the red light at roundabouts also means stop- just like at every other junction. (I use Tolworth and Painshill as my case example). Every day- someone jumps the red and blocks the path of the people who just got the green. Fools!

I like this ad tbh. To me it shows that even the person making the call to someones mobile should be aware that they could be driving and if it sounds like they are then they should finish the call.
I do, my brother drives about a lot on business during the day and if i call when hes driving i say call me back when you have a mo or text him if i just need to give him some info.

I guess if more people who got calls from friends who were driving ended the call then people would all soon just stop using their phones when they drive.

Oh who am i kidding, no matter what law, ( short of roadside kneecapping administered lawfully by the nearest biker of course ) there will always be a-holes who think what they have to say either cant wait to be said or cant be said hands free.

Personaly i think even handsfree is as almost as dangerous as holding the handset. Its your attention thats still elsewhere and if youre deep into the conversation (ive had arguments with ex girlfriends or deep work negaotiations on the phone while driving years ago and wondered how the hell i got to where i was by the time the call had finished) I dont think it really matters that much if you have 1 or both hands on the wheel.

I saw this advert today and was thinking, surely they should advertise talking on the phone and then the guy hits something and its like oooh I get it, its one of those safety adverts. Its quite shocking but thats usually the only way to get it through to people.

I have handsfree in my car and use maybe once a day, it does take some of your attention away thats for sure, and if you were doing something taxing it would be dangerous but its handy for when its a clear road and your driving in a straight line or stuck in traffic. But like everything, in moderation I guess.

Top marks for the advert though.

When i rarely talk on the cell phone and drive i sound really stupid because i am so focused on driving i really don't care what they are saying
