What were the symptoms that led to the advice that replacement bearings are required?
In many pointy SV's there seems to be a bit of side to side play in the swingarm that won't necessarily be fixed by new bearings. Have a read here - clicky |

Just read the huge thread the play is side to side on mine too. I just called ma Mech telling him about the shims he's still saying I should replace my bearing too as I'll have the arm off anyways.

May be worth finding out which bearings are causing the play.
My MOT fail slip said "excessive swingarm" play... and found it was caused by the shock linkage knuckle bearings. This caused play in the vertical direction. Worst one on mine was the one that connects the knuckle to the frame. Bought a couple of sets from different suppliers as I found they had play in them from new. Fitted the ones that had the least play and a year later they got a mention in the next MOT... not for "excessive" that time though. |

there should be no up down movement on the swingarm but suzuki say that side to side is normal. i have a little up-down play due to not replacing the washers on the knuckle to frame which causes he inner bearing to move on the bolt.
if the MOT inspector has only felt side to side play then ask him/her to phone suzuki but i doubt you will get anywhere with this. |
