Bike alarms and insurance.
I've applied for insurance for the Daytona, I've said it has a Datatool alarm on it, send all the relevant paperwork to the insurance company. Yesterday I've found a letter from the insurance company stating that they still want my alarm certificate. Weird I thought and got on the phone.
After a short conversation it became clear that the certificate I have has a different numberplate on it The insurers suggested I take the bike to the dealers for them to issue a new certificate, but they've also said that if I fail to provide them with it, they will have to increase my premium by... £4 Alarms keeping your premium down? Re: Bike alarms and insurance
Cost you more than £4 to get a new certificate I guess.

That's .cos you live in Hicktown, Nowheresville. It makes a bigger difference where I am.

Re: Bike alarms and insurance.
Similar for me, something like a £15 saving. I don't have one anyway so its fairly irrelevant but given the cost of a 'decent' one Id probably recoup that in oh, 20 years or so? Would prob outweigh the increase in premium following a theft also!
The benefits? A dodgy piece of kit in your bike with the ability to wake you up for no reason at all, to drain your battery at will and do go bonkers leaving your bike immobilised in the middle of nowhere. No ta!! |
