I scratched my car along a wall a while back. Took it to a main dealership in Leeds and received a quotation of ?980 to put it right.

For a proper job you would need the whole left side of the car to be resprayed so that it looked like the colour matched to some extent, and a new plastic on the rear arch.
Bearing in mind this is a dealer who wont be doing the work but sub contracting its not a bad price, no more than an insurance approved repairer you will need to find a back street jobbie or small independant. I damaged my car hitting a deer and it cost ?3100 to fix through insurance, I had to pay the Vat and claim it back from my company lol, it was an expensive month on the expenses. |

Not really
You scratched the door and thw rear wing and you've also mullered the plastics over the wheel arch, to take all that off sort the dents out, re-spray it and then put it all back together again is a fair amount of work...

it's a BMW (mini) so it'll cost a fortune from a main dealership to do anything to it
it looks like the panel is dented, so BMW may be charging for a replacement, did they give you an itemised estimate? the scratch has obviously gone through the undercoat so the panel will have to be re-sprayed, the plastic wheel trim will probably be being replaced as i doubt you can polish out of matte plastic... take it to a local body-shop and see what they say

Seems a bit steep to me too. Is that a special paint (e.g. perlescent?) or anything? did the quote specify what they would be doing and how much each thing was costing?

Mate of mine had a rear light lens & a bit of touch up for the rear 1/4 on his x reg Astra at a body shop, the quote?
?625 + vat ![]() A lady reversed her car into his & she said she wanted it done on the insurance. Just goes to show how easy it is to write something off as "Uneconomical to repair"

BMW.
Bring More Wedge. 'Nuff said. Local bodyshop's the way forward. Local place that looks after our works cars did a similar job on one of them for ?400 all in, with a complete respray of one side of the car. |
