Lighting Issue
Hello!
I'm having a bit of fun with my curvy ('02 model) sv's lighting. One of the headlight bulbs has gone, got a replacement set but i cant get the original bulb out of the bike! The manual says 'Pull the power socket off, pull the rubber cap off, remove the clip and slide the bulb out'. sounds easy enough five minute job , erm no! no matter how hard i pull the socket just wont come off, i can feel the bulb assembly moving backard as I try to get the socket off, i dont want to risk damaging the lighting unit by forcing it off, anyone know if theres a clip / fastener holding the socket on that i cant see (it'd gone dark by the time i'd got hold of the right bulbs!). If anyones got any tips for changing them easily i'd be grateful! Cheers |

Re: Lighting Issue
It might need a good tug. Try and put one hand on the back of the bulb, and one hand pulling the plug, pull it hard and it'll come off eventually. Have your swear words ready for when you skin your knuckles

Re: Lighting Issue
Just replaced both of mine today with Osram Nightbreakers. The connectors were hard to get off but after a bit if wiggling and pulling they came off. Keep at it and they will budge.

Re: Lighting Issue
What you need to do is pull out the the black electrical connector (might need a wiggle at the same time)...
Then remove the outer rubber cover, this just pulls off.... Then unhook the bulb, draw the bulb out and and do the reverse to fit the new bulb. Last edited by Dangerous Dave; 11-12-08 at 12:47 PM. |

Re: Lighting Issue
Nice one, I might take the nose fairing off to give myself more leverage, plus i could do with giving it a thorough check over for corrosion, damaged paintwork etc before the winter really hits home!

Re: Lighting Issue
Get ready to think of some new words when it comes off and you punch the subframe
