Default Losing the idiot magnets, for the sake of photography.

I have a photography project coming up, and i am going to incorporate my bike for the idea of travelling. I find the L plates distracting in photos, and they draw the eye from photos. For the project, i will be travelling around probably as far as chelmsford and other parts of east anglia taking photos on the way.
I have no interest in riding without L plates in the long run, just for the photos that i take for the project.

Shall i take the (3 point) risk losing the L plates whilst taking the photos, and just stick them on after?
I wear all the full gear, and to be honest if anything i look like im overdoing it on my CG, so it's unlikely i will get pulled over since i don't look the the average teenage scrote on a 125. I could perhaps keep the L plates in my bag and say i'm on my way to get cableties for them?

good idea, the cops will NEVER have heard that excuse before, it's so fresh they'll have to let you off...

</sarcasm>

if you're taking photos of a stationary vehicle just remove them and hold them in your hand while shooting, then you **might** just stay on the good side of any passing BiB

if you're shooting while riding then take them off, you need the points to get you off the road ASAP

Is it not three points per L plate, thus meaning IF you did you get pulled that would be 6 points?..

I would just risk it...or find another way of sticking them on and taking them off quickly.

I rode for 18 months without L plates. If you don't speed, the police have no interest in you

I can't think of a way to stick them on and off quickly... Any quick method would probably fall off after 30mph.

My instructor did say that i'm unlikely to get pulled over because i wear the correct gear. Are random checks quite unlikely? The bike is registered, taxed, and insured to me obiviously without any convictions.

To save all the hassle of taking the plates off and then putting them back on again, why don't you just take someone else's bike? There's plenty around, and you could have something cool like a Daytona, or a 'Blade. I mean, ART is so much more important than acting legally and honestly, and I'm sure your Lecturers would understand if you get caught and banged up for a month or so...........

Yes, but the cops have probrably got a computer link that tells them what licence the owner has. So is it worth the risk. Stick them on with good old gaffer tape. At least if you have them on the coppers can only moan at you for not having them displayed correctly?
Essex Police are quite active in their traffic division, as I see them nearly every wednesday on our ride outs to Gt Bently. Quite often down the back roads with their mobile fund raising guns

Have you ever seen a picture of a car in their comics which has a tax disc? No, they take it off for photos. If you're taking the pics, presumably not on the move?
Not suggesting anything.

Heres some pics of the bike to show how they are attached. I don't think velcro would work. http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=125923
