Default Internet buy - Yay or Nay?

i need a new lid and have basically decided that i will get an arai chaser. i've been to a couple of shops and tried them on and found myself to be a medium.

i've deided on arai because i like the after sales care you get for free at shows and if you knock it, it can be sent away to be checked if you need a new one or not. i also figure that there must be something good to them when you see such a large number of people using them and not just there for looks. so while i've got a little money i'll splash out.

so as the title suggests, should i buy the new one fron J&S in watford where they're having a 20% off everything sale (i'm a little dubious about the place having heard bad things about them in the past, with things like their helemts not being official UK ones. i asked the guy straight up if they were official UK ones and he said yes they are. though i have to say i've never really trusted them when i've been in there before). or do ii buy it from somewhere like http://www.racevisors.co.uk/categori...152&p=448#ptop which says they're official uk models and you get these nice goodies with it (and i will be buying a dark visor at some point if i don't get one with the helmet).

so mighty .org your thoughts please...

If it does not feel right, then dont bother. Not worth it for the minimal saving.

only time I've bought a helmet at distance (over the phone) was when it was the exact same model helmet I'd previously owned in the same size. If it's a different lid you need to check it. Not sure how couriers handle lids either ...

You could always see if anybody local will do a price match.

Some time ago I sourced a good deal on a Scorpion exhaust and Infinity on Hanger Lane price matched it for me.

Find the best deal on the net then pop in to infinity with the details.

I bought my lid from racevisors with no problems at all. Went to Hein Gericke to try a few on so I got the correct size then went home and ordered it. £20 cheaper and got a free iridium visor chucked in. And it was delivered next day.

I've just bought an Arai Chaser from HG i must admit i did go and try it on and i was gonna buy it online for about 80 quid less but i went back to HG told him my thoughts and he knocked some money off and threw in a fogcity hyperoptics pinlock and a load of cleaning stuff. HG are obviously an Arai 5 star dealer and i dont think i could be bothered posting a helmet back to an online store i would rather just be able to drive or ride 5 mins back to the shop to have any problem/complaint rectified.

I must admit i was taken in by the kiddas patter in the shop and that was part of the reason for buying it there, they were really good in HG never tried to push me into buying a particular product

many thanks

mick
