Default Speedo and diagramatic diagnosis! HELP!

So...the curvy curse has apparently caught up with my wee Suzy...

On a ride on saturday night the speedo stopped working, (nothing to do with me dropping the bike I may add!)

My OH (and so called mechanic) then told me he thought he'd broken the
"sensor and/or sender unit" when he put the wheel back on after investigating a slow puncture, but didn't tell me as it was working fine.

So, my question is this, does anyone know where I can find detailed pictures of the parts in question so I know the right part to order?

The entire unit is about £60 from my local Suzuki dealer, but the drive washer (like i know what that is!) is only £20...so I know which I'd prefer!

so where can I find some pictures that I can pinpoint the problem to?

Hi, your problem in all likelyhood is the rotor magnet part( part number 29 in the image), the last one I bought was abut £15 (although a couple of years ago now), however for completeness attached are the parts and the second image has the numbers in it.

Cheers Mark.

+1 - very easy to damage if not lined up correctly when you re-assemble the axle and wheel.

Thanks guys... I'll give my OH these pics tonight and see what he says. Hopefully he can get it stripped soon. I hate missing sunshine!

you have to make sure that you engage the 'rotor' (magnetic part) of the speedo drive gear into the front wheel cutouts properly or else it will smash the magnetic part when you tighten the front axle...

but i guess you know this already now.... i'll get me coat...

I had no idea... I don't do the "technical stuff" although I'm suddenly tempted to start, going by the murmuring "next week" noises coming from the OH in regards to getting this done...

I can see me acquiring my own tools etc shortly...*taps foot*
