Since the temp has dropped this week my sv cuts out when i grab the clutch at a junction or summet.
Today i left it for 5-10minutes on a fast idle to warm the engine up and it still cut out on me 3/4 of the way on the 7mile trip to work, if i then use a bit of choke (or full in sum cases) it'll restart, the route i take to work barley uses any of the engines grunt and its as tho it never warms up. The problem goes away if I leave a lot of choke on, this is why I think it's cos the engine is too cold. I neva had this problem last week when it was warm i could just jump on it a go no probs. could the engine have the wrong grade oil in it? any ideas as it is quickly starting to **** me off!!! stood in the middle of a busy road trying to get the thing started. HELP!!!! PS i have a rough idea of how my engine works but don't go too deep into explaning things please. ![]() Last edited by FlyinCustard; 28-04-09 at 01:15 PM. |

Are you turning the choke off? pushing it away?
or are you accidently turning it on (pulling it towards you) May sound silly but its an easy mistake to make a friend was doing similar with his NSR for weeks before I pointed out the reason it died all the time. |

yeah, thats correct.
Its just with what you describe it sounds similar to what happens if the choke is on rahter than off. Is the problem constant? does it make any odds if you have been on a 10min ride ot if you';ve been out for 2 hours? |

What is your idle revs, with the choke off? same question again with the choke on?

It's a bit approximate.
Providing the choke plungers aren't seized and a monkey hasn't been let loose on your idle speed adjustment then 1.5-2.5k idle? And around 3-4k choked.
