Default Tyres - which & how? (CBR600)

I need a new front tyre for the CBR-RR it has a Battlax 016 at the moment.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Also is it OK just to change the front, the back is an 021 and has plenty of life on it.

Cheers,
Kev

Std consensus is yes provided it's the same manufacturer.

I typically get through 2 fronts to a rear - 021's.

Recommendations - depending on use - stay with Bridgestones.

The WateryLOO ex RR owner will be along soon with his number two's worth... ah 2p worth. Scoobs, that is.

Kev,

Can't recommend that you mix brands, but I always liked Michelins on my RR. I had Pilot Power 2CTs which were very good and also Pilot Roads. Never had any issues with these. More than enough grip, stable, excellent life. The only thing I didn't like about them was that they were slow to turn in to a corner and needed a little more effort. I was comparing them to Pirelli Supercorsas though which were like **** to a blanket, but only had an 1,800 life.

I really can't fault the Pilot Road 2s then. I don't think you'll get 10k out of them but 7.5 to 8 is probably do-able. I liked them a lot on the RR. Good in the wet and damp and excellent in the dry. No moments at all.

But not to mix makes - right?

So what do I do with the good tyre then, bin it? Grow spuds in it in the back garden?

I do need a tyre which is good for winter commuting.

Cant go far wrong with Maxxis tyres, half the price of the known brands & damned good tyres. I'm on my 2nd set dont think I'll be changing to anything else.

+1 for the Pilot Road 2s, I've just put a set that I used for the France trip at the beginning of the summer back on the R1 ......it's nice to have some grip again (Avon Viper Sports I had on were knackered).

Do what I did and keep your good tyre for the summer because you'll no doubt want something sticker for the summer (not needed but we all do it don't we )

Sup to you mate. I can't recomment to mix, It's your call. You could try and sell it off as a part worn???
