Tyre pressure on track?

Hi guy and girls im doing a track day at brands on my curvy 120/70+160/60 and was wondering what pressure to run?

From my newbie perspective, I think it depends on the weather, so how hot the track will be - and how fast you reckon you'll be riding.

Without any knowledge or research, my general understanding is that people lower their pressures because as the temperature of the tyres increase so does the pressures so you need to start off at a lower base pressure if this makes sense.

I did Mallory Park in November on a damp cold day and didn't play with my pressures at all - left them at the same I use on the roads during that time of year.

If it's a cold day and you're new to trackdays and won't be riding the tyres off the curvey then I'd stick to standard pressures probably.

I'd start with 32 front and 30 rear (cold), then if you get going well bring the front down a couple more psi.

For your first *ever* track session I'd run road pressures.

Then measure the tyre pressures hot, ie *AS SOON AS YOU STOP*, adjust to std tyre pressures ie 36 front, 42 rear.

See how you go, as you get faster you may find you want to drop them again as they go off at the end of a session or you may dislike the tendency to fall into corners and feel awkward until they warm up and stick a few more PSI in.

Re-measure when the tyres are cold again and you can then use that as a starting point next time.
