I've had a rear wheel which doesn't run free for ages so I've inspected the bearings and yes one was siezed. Replaced the rear bearings so all nice and new. The bearing in the sprocket carrier is nice and free so that didn't need to change. The symptoms Im getting are the same as when the bearing was siezed, when the wheel is fitted but the spindle isn't tightened the wheel runs fine but the more you tighten the spindle the stiffer it is to move the wheel. According to the Haynes manual I have all the spacers etc in the right order from left to right spindle> flat chain market plate > through swingarm > circular spacer > sprocket carrier > spacer thing in sprocket carrier > wheel > top hat spacer > swing arm > flat chain marker > washer > nut.
Any ideas?? Its got me stumped and the new bearings move ok and are Koyo so should be good. |

Is the spindle aligned?
Try it with the caliper off to see if the brake is binding.

On the top hat the larger fatter end towards the wheel. The space inside the sprocket carrier the short end in the carrier itself longer towards wheel. The other can go in any way cant it

I think if you reverse the "top-hat" shaped one i.e. one closest to the brake caliper brkt, the brim shape "widest" sits against the caliper brkt, try that and carefully tighten up testing free rotattion as you go.

Apologies, to busy thinking of my pointy doh+oap, looking at the parts list it would appear the only one that could cause an issue is the spacer between the cushdrive and the wheel bearing.
Perhaps this may be usefull http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm JOHN Last edited by Icanopit; 06-03-10 at 02:39 PM. Reason: poor spelling |
