Default V5 Help (sorta urgent)

So if all goes well my SV is being collected today by a transport company and sent to Ireland. I'm a bit stumped though on how to manage the V5 (not having had a lot of experience with them).

My wife says that I'm responsible for sending it in to the DVLA (aside from the New Keeper Supplement). If I do keep it to send in, it obviously won't have the buyers signature on it.

If I send it along with the bike, then I'm relying on the buyer to complete it and return it to the DVLA here, otherwise I'm forever stuck paying tax on it?

What's the best thing to do?

Edit- Do I need to complete the Notification of Permanent Export as well?

Do not under any circumstance send it with the bike, you are solely responsible for sending it in.

Deffo send your bit off, the guidance notes on the back or website whould tell you what to do about the export bit, if it's Eire I'd assume you do?

You could always send a colour photocopy of the full V5 with the bike.

Cheers guys. You got me concerned enough to ring the DVLA, and the woman there confidently told me that I would need to complete and retain section 11 (Notification of Permanent Export) and give the rest of the registration to the new keeper. I then send section 11 in to the DVLA along with a covering letter to advise them the vehicle has been sold and permanently exported and to strike my name from the records.

Keep a copy of what you send to the DVLA, and remember to chase them up if you haven't heard from them in a couple of weeks.
