Hi all
I am really suffering when riding at the moment...never had the problem with any of my other bikes, but I find my left hand really hurts/aches when riding the SV...everytime i pull the clutch in the muscles really start to hurt...Normally starts playing up after about a 15 mile ride onwards... I think it may possibly due to being a girl i have smaller hands and so it is a bit more of a stretch, I have adjusted the lever slightly to try a different angle but it doesnt really help. Any suggestions? I just need the lever to be closer to the bar so its less of a stretch. Are there any other levers out there that would be suitable (sorry if dumb question!!) ![]() Last edited by magical_mover; 16-03-10 at 10:56 PM. |

yep, an easy fix (well hopefully), loosen off both the clutch and brake levers and twist them down, say about 15 to 20 degrees on the bars. This way yours hands wont be at such an angle to your arms and they wont hurt as much. Watch out for the clearances with the fairings and cables but this makes a big difference. It was the first mod I did when I had a pointy a few years back and it works a treat.

If you have smaller hands its possible to adjust the clutch so that the biting point is nearer the handlebar. This makes the stiff bit easier, as you have more strength the more your fingers are curled. It's a fine line though as you have to make sure the clutch isn't dragging.

i have very small hands and dont have a problem at all so i think its somthing to do with the position of the leaver, adjust it but take the spaner with you go for a long ride and test out the positions untill you get one that is comfotable

Perhaps, for a guy. But Miss Ophic has small hands for a girl. We struggle to find bike gloves that fit. Hence most clutch levers need various amounts of tweaking before she can ride it. Pulling away is the worst bit, as she can reach the lever, but has no control or grip when her fingers are mostly extended.
If you adjust it too far, you can't find neutral.

5hort5 is right, tilting the lever down a little can make a big difference

Would bending the lever (after suitable application of heat) be a workable idea?
If this is completely wrong and/or dangerous, then mods please delete or edit with "FFS NO!" or some such!
