Default DO NOT BUY GIVI or KAPPA fitting kits for SVs

Hey,

Bought a kappa topbox fitting kit for my SV650S 06 model a few weeks ago.
It didn't fit!
So returned it to dealership I purchased it from.
They contacted Givi (who own Kappa), and turns out that all SV fitting kits are wrong.

So they currently sorting it.

I'll post more details on whats wrong in a bit.

Cheers,

Bokki

Right, details.

If you look at a picture of the fitted kit, there are two brackets which hook over and bolt onto the grab handle.
There is supposed to be a threaded hole in each where a bolt passes through the rack arm and screws into said brackets.

Now, in the current sets the brackets do not sit flush with the grab handle, do not line up with the rack arm, and DO NOT have a threaded hole.
Therefore, it does not fit securely together at all!

I'll post more details as I get them.

I was told by the dealership (Thunderoad Bridgend) that I've been the only person to bring it to Givi's attention, which is quite scary really! Maybe I'll get a "thank you" compensation... doubt it somehow!

I don't personally know of any, but someone here may...
... start a new thread, with a link to this one, so people don't suggest Givi!

I've got a renntec sport rack with a givi plate attached. Works well for me. I was looking at a pannier rack which mean i need a givi/kappa topbox rack too. I think i'll wait for a bit.

My bike came with full givi top rack thing and side panniers, which I removed at the weekend.
The part that clamps on to the grab rail has made a hell of a mess of the rail, its all worn through the paint and the metal

I've got the SW-Motech AluRack. Fitted my old Givi monolock plate directly to it (without using the £30 adaptor) and am very happy....
