Default Clunky gear shifts.

My YZF 750 is giving me down shift problems. It basically clunks on all down shifts.

The clutch is hydraulic. No method of adjustment available. The fluid level is correct.

What do you think could be wrong? My suspicions lead me to think it’s the pushrod or possibly the ball bearing is missing at the end of the pushrod. Anyone got any other ideas?

The clutch does not drag or slip. It works just fine. Just it clunks on all down shifts.

I assume the usual SV suspects apply to the Yam------Chain tension/lube/condition and any corrosion in the gear lever pivot and linkage.Engine oil level ok?I would think if the clutch doesnt drag or slip the problem is likely to be one of the above,or a gearbox problem.

Only going from what i found with the vfr's clutch was
Take the slave cylender off the bike, lid off the resevoiur and the push it all the way back in...probably going to be a huge about of gunk stuck in there. so then clean and repeat a few times and it became alot smoother on the clutch and the gear changes as i think there was abit of binding/ sticking going on.

Could be some air in the system. Have you tried bleeding it?

Okay. The oil level is fine. The chain is lubed. No corrosion or anything else anywhere. The gear shift is nice and smooth and all greased up. When I first bought the bike there was no clutch fluid in it. A quick change of some of the parts on the slave and master cylinders sorted this out. As a consequence of this, the fluid is quite fresh and clean. No gunk. I have no sponginess which is the common sign of air being trapped in the system. Even if air was trapped in the system I have doubt this would cause the issue I am having. A leak yes but not trapped air. I could be wrong I guess so I will bleed the system again to be sure I can rule that out. I don't have a leak in the system.
