Default Datatool alarm; no response to fob.

hi guys and gals,

Sorry for this, i know there is several thread's about alarms, and datatools in particular!

But i have not long had this bike (september) and never had an alarm. (on a bike)

Since end of november, i have had the bike covered up, and not really used it much, baybe 3 times something like that. get up this morning deciding that it might be nice to ride to work and the dam thing wont disarm!!

Pressed the button on the fob and nothing. I know it is not the fob as i have tried the spare as well, and the LED on the fob flashed.

Tried moving the bike and the motion sensor sounded a couple of times so the alarm is active, and i would be supprised if it is the battery as fitted a brand new one in october, and there is enough power in it to keep alarm armed so surley should be able to disarm it. also being that when the last battery died on me i was able to arm and disarm the alarm with no problems, and i know that the battery was as flat as a pancake!

I have had a read through a few threads on this and have seen that some people have had fuse go, but would this allow the motion sensor to still be active? and even if this is the case what would have caused the fues to go!

The only thing i can think is that i run the power hose over her every time i ride whilst roads as salty, water shouldn't get into sensor and screw it over should it?

Also i know that you can do a manual overide with a code, but i cant find a code in any of the paperwork, any ideas how i can get this?

any other ideas appreciated!

Cheers in advance

Could be the fuses. The manual override may not be set but contact the previous owner to see if they have the number. I would set the alarm off and try and get it into a different mode. Although a lot of people don't rate alarms, if it is already fitted then it can be a pain to remove. There is an antispike procedure which may also cure this.

I have the instructions etc for the Datatool 3 on PDF. If you want a copy just PM me your email address.

i have all the instructions etc for it, but it doesn't tell me all that much is the one you have quite detailed?

i didn't realise that it has a back up battery, i will try the fuse when home then.

I liked the idea of the alarm as the bike is not in a garage, but it was by no stretch of the imagination the selling point for me. But i have to say it is starting to annoy me already!!

I have the Operating Instructions, the key fob reprogramming instructions and the draining instructions (spiked). My bike sits outside under a cover and the alarm only played up when the bike battery died at -12.5 degrees. A new battery later, it is OK.

i had one i ended up getting a blanking plug for it and removing the alarm and inserting the blanking plug, they are about £5 from a dealer.

you will prob find it has drained your battery, they are a strong drain and will drain it in about 2 weeks if your not lucky

Alarm will have gone to sleep mode after 10-14 days. Turning the ignition on with the key, then press the arm/disarm button on the fob should clear it.
