what's the difference between the 2 chargers and why is one 25 and the other 50?
does anyone know if they both come with a wire you can clip to frame to plug in directly rather than having to remove seat to get to battery? |

Optimate
Do not touch the Oximiser it is rubbish, I have had 2, lesson learned bought an Optimate. Yes they both have a flying lead to permently connect to the battery, the Optimate one is far thicker, better connector and more flexible that the Oximiser supplied one

I think it depends on the model as to the price. I have an Optimate which works very well. This has the battery lead.
Much as I have issues with Argos at the moment (see the thread on Oxford panniers) the Oxford 600 is reduced there at the moment HERE I went for Optimate after opinions on the forum and have not been disappointed. Last edited by B1k3R; 20-01-11 at 10:02 AM. |

Hi,
I went for the optimate as I needed to leave it outside, I had issues with my bike starting in the cold weather. Now this is plugged in when I'm not using the bike and I've never had a problem with the 2 wheel dream machine since! Don't know bout the oximiser but so far the other one hasn't let me down since! i have an optimate, it comes with 2 sets of attachments, one that you attach to the batter and run up under the seat and then just plug the wall attachment when you need to, the other set are croc clips.
the wall part attaches to one of the sets, you can leave the first one perm attached to the battery and just plug in when needed, the optimate i have trickle charges the battery and stops charging it when its complete, i got mine from halfords and went for the middle priced one out of the 3 this is the one they are doing now, its not the same as mine but it seems to be the closest http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...k&iozone=PLPz1 Last edited by Dave Mac; 21-01-11 at 05:16 PM. |

So what's the difference then?
I have an Oximiser, but I'm not convinced by it. The final green light hasn't lit up on my Triumph and it's been on there for 3-4 days. A multimeter across the battery shows it as 12.5v, then up to 13v when the engine is running, but according to threads on Triumph Torque this seems to be typical of what Daytona owners see, and it doesn't cause them any problems. Not the reg reg apparently, it's the way it's connected to the battery via the loom, the cable is too long and not thick enough and gets warm. My Yamaha the green light does come on but it still only shows 13v across the battery, and I don't know what it shows when running. My SV used to shoe 13v across the battery, then up to 15v when charging. |

A fairer comparison would be to compare the Optimate with the Maximizer. I have used a Maximiser 360T for around four years and find the digital display giving voltage and Amps/hour very handy. My only issue with it is that the lights indicating recover, charge, maintain, weak and strong don't always work.

Cant vote for or against any of the others but Ive had an Optimate2 for over ten years and its been the bollux.Might think about getting the newer version if it wears out.
